Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, during a high level security review meeting in Itanagar on Thursday informed that the vans would start functioning as soon as the vehicles will be received.
The meeting attended by the chief secretary, principal secretary (Home) and the DGP reviewed the present security situation of the state capital, official sources said in Itanagar on Friday.
Tuki, who also holds the Home portfolio, informed that the Union Home Ministry had been requested to provide a battalion of CRPF for maintenance of law and order in the capital.
"The ministry has been requested to provide the CRPF battalion early and till an accommodation for them can be constructed at Itanagar, it has been decided to send two companies to Seppa, one to Tezu and one to Daporijo from this strength, when the force is received. Two companies will be stationed at Itanagar," Tuki said.
The Chief Minister also directed that strict action should be taken against any extortion threats made by UG groups, criminals or other miscreants.
He also appealed the public to immediately report any such calls to the police and share any information available about such criminal activity and criminal elements involved, sources added.
