The trophy was formally launched at Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy Sports Complex in Chimpu, near here yesterday, official sources said here today.
Tuki said that the Trophy instituted by him intended to explore the hidden sporting talents of the state.
There are two categories of games - Football and Volleyball level competition which was formally kicked off at block and constituency level of the state on Friday.
The winners of block level competition would compete in the district level during December followed by state level competition during February next year. The final matches would coincide with the Statehood Day celebration on February 20.
Attractive cash prizes with trophies and participation certificate would be given during the Statehood Day celebration, Tuki disclosed.
Besides channelizing the youth energy being wasted for unproductive works, the matches would skill the youth, discipline them and those who would excel could choose sports as a rewarding career, he said while referring the his government's pragmatic sports policy that offers cash incentive for national and international medal winners and 10 per cent job reservation for sports persons in government jobs.
Expressing strong resentment against issue of stapled visa by China to two Arunachalee archers recently, the Chief Minister informed that he took up the issue with the Centre demanding a permanent solution so that Arunachalees are not deprived from attending global events in China while India losses sure medals.
However, the promising sports persons have drawn the attention of Union Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Jintendra Singh, who recently assured all possible support to promote the state's sports sector, he added.
"Every Arunachalee should imbibe sportsman spirit in all walks of life to make our tribal society a model for others to emulate," he said adding the state is poised for a quantum jump in all spheres of development for which the people have to be mentally and physically ready.
