The support was sought in a meeting between the Chief Minister and Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Jitendra in New Delhi on Friday, official sources said.
Tuki also sought Centre’s support in implementing the Youth and Sports Vision adopted by his government for the benefit of the youth.
While lauding the efforts of Tuki for declaring 10 percent reservation in jobs for sportspersons in several departments the union minister had said other states should also come out to implement similar quotas to promote overall development of sports and sportspersons in the country, the sources said.
Jiji Thomson, Director General of Sports Authority of India (SAI), who was also present in the meeting, informed that the upgradation of the SAI centre in the state to a centre of excellence was under review of the ministry and a decision would be taken soon, the sources added.
