Sangareddy: A local court here on Tuesday dismissed the bail petition of MIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi in connection with a 2005 case against him for allegedly obstructing the then Collector and other officials from discharging their duties.

Asaduddin, who was on Monday sent to judicial remand till February 2 in the case by the Judicial First Class Magistrate and Prohibition and Excise Special Court in Sangareddy town, had filed a bail application.

After hearing the arguments and counter-arguments from the defence and prosecution, the court in Sangareddy town of Medak district dismissed Asaduddin's bail plea, a senior police officer said.

Asaduddin had on Monday filed a 'recall petition' in the court seeking cancellation of a non-bailable warrant. However, the court had dismissed his petition and remanded him in judicial custody till February 2.

The case was registered on a complaint by a revenue official that Asaduddin, his younger brother and party MLA Akbaruddin

Owaisi and others protested demolition of a place of worship at Muttangi village near Patancheru during a road widening work of Hyderabad-Mumbai National Highway.

They had allegedly engaged in heated arguments with the then District Collector A K Singhal and other officers and while demonstrating the Owaisi brothers had allegedly pushed the Collector.
