Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the rally covered another 420kms today after a rousing flag off from Kohima.
The participants had a taste of Assamese culture and traditional food when they were hosted for lunch by Numaligarh refinery limited (NRL) at Dimapur.
NRL rolled out the red carpet for the 124 participants and enthralled the audience with their traditional dance forms, including the famous Bihu dance.
The traditional and folk dances were also shown to the convoy when it travelled from Dimapur to Guwahati. Men and women dressed in their traditional attires danced by the road side as the convoy, led by a pilot car, passed through the predetermined route.
Near the Kaziranga national park area, elephants were lined up on either side of the streets as they saluted them with their trunks.
It was overwhelming to see thousands of people, including children, coming out of their houses to cheer the convoy. "It has been a life changing and special experience for me. I have done many expeditions but it has been special. I made many friends and I feel emotional that it is coming to an end now," Tushar Agarwal said.
The response we got in each country was overwhelming specially now to see so many people cheering for us in our country is truly special," Tushar added.
The evening will end with a dinner, which will be hosted by Assam's Sports & Youth Welfare minister Ajit Singh. The 31 Mahindra cars thus travelled a total distance 7712kms spread across nine countries including India after flagging off from Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
