Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam): Vietnam rolled out the red carpets for the ASEAN-India car rally, giving a rousing reception to the participants, who entered the sixth leg after reaching Ho Chi Minh City.
     
Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city of Vietnam, welcomed the participants with open arms as thousands of children and elders, wearing bright and colourful attires, lined up the streets to cheer the convoy as it passed through the city smoothly, thanks to the traffic marshals.
     
Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Ministry of External Affairs, the second edition of the car rally was flagged off by Deputy Prime minister Dr Sok An from Independence monument in Phnom Penh, Cambodia this morning.
     
The 31 cars then crossed the Mekong river at Neak Leong, which is 65 kms from Phnom Penh, in two ferries, before stopping for a lunch near the Bavet border. The total distance0 covered so far is almost 4000 kms.
     
At the border, the participants were given a welcome reception, before they moved to the Ho Chi Minh City and witness a overwhelming response from the citizens of the country.
     
The participants were welcomed by some energetic musical and dance performance as Vietnam churned out one rocking number after another at the reunification palace, which was thronged by thousands of people, who posed for pictures with the participants.
