New Delhi: Hosts Delhi will like to make amends for their humiliating innings & 35 run defeat against Gujarat when they lock horns with Tamil Nadu in their third round Ranji Trophy Elite Group encounter at the Feroz Shah Kotla from on Thursday. (Agencies)
While Delhi have only three points from two outings, Tamil Nadu are on five points from two matches as they were extremely unlucky not to get full points against Haryana failing short by only five runs.
The match will also mark the return of left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra into the longer version after a gap of three years. Nehra who had earlier declared that he won't be playing the four-day format as his body may not respond to the rigours have been left with no options to prove his match fitness to the national selectors.
Many believe that the crafty seamer has already played his last international match for India despite being the highest wicket-taker in ODIs in past two years.
His experience will certainly come in handy however it's there to see how his body responds while bowling the second and third spells. But there is no uncertainty about the fact that the pedestrian-looking Delhi attack will have some verve with Nehra's inclusion.
Nehra will replace offie Manoj Chauhan who went wicketless giving away 130 runs in last match.
The Tamil Nadu side led by Lakshmipathy Balaji has a more or less settled look and the positive approach that they showed while trying to chase 146 in 13 overs.
More importantly Murali Vijay and Dinesh Karthik showed signs of returning back to form as they smashed the Haryana bowlers in the second innings. Former India colts player V Yo Mahesh also did his bit getting six wickets in the second innings. In all it promises to be an exciting affair.
