Gogoi lashed out at the BJP's prime ministerial candidate saying Modi has sidelined other leaders of his party with his "dictatorial attitude". "Modi has a dictatorial attitude; he is projecting himself as if it's a one-man show in the BJP, he has made all the senior party leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and others appear insignificant."

The Chief Minister also said that the Congress in Assam would counter Modi in a befitting manner. "We are going to show Modi in terms of votes in the Lok Sabha polls. We will also organize a rally in Guwahati which will cater the youth and will emphasize the issue of empowerment of women in Assam." Modi is scheduled to address a "Maha Jagran" rally in Guwahati February 8.

The Assam CM also said that there was a nexus between the BJP and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) led by perfume baron Badaruddin Ajmal. "BJP and AIUDF have an unholy nexus and that's the reason why they have come together in nominating a common candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls, said Gogoi.
