In its endeavour to promote Assam Tea in the world arena, the Directorate had also selected some entrepreneurs manufacturing export quality Assam CTC and Orthodox tea as well as signature teas such as hand rolled White Tea, etc.

The exclusive White Tea introduced for the first time by Aideobari Tea Estate in Assam has been a major attraction at the Tea Festival going on simultaneously with the Food Festival, the release said.

Another big attraction is the hand made green smoked tea made by Gobin Hazarika of Lakhimpur.

Four of the entrepreneurs participating in the festival are small tea growers from Lakhimpur, Kokrajhar and Sivasagar districts, the release said.

The Directorate is participating for the first time in the Hong Kong International Food Expo organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), it said, adding Consul General of India to Hong Kong Prashant Agrawal visited the pavilion today and appreciated the endeavour of the state government to promote Assam Tea abroad.

Prior to the Food Festival next year Agarwal proposed to have a tea testing session at the Indian Consulate where tea buyers from different parts of the world would be invited, it added.
