Set in the river island Majuli, one of the largest river islands in the world, the movie stars veteran actor Victor Banerjee.

The film is all about the struggle of the people living in and around Majuli especially the complications born out of the home-bred insurgency.

The film also stars Sanjay Suri, Raj Zutshi, Preeti Jhangiani and Bidita Bag.

"The Audience Choice Award for 2014 goes to 'As River Flows'. It was beautifully done," North Carolina International South Asian Film Festival director Gauri Singh informed the film's director Bidyut Kotoky.

Apart from the audience choice award, the film has also been selected for the upcoming 14th annual New York Indian Film Festival which is North America's oldest and most prestigious destination for feature films, documentaries, and shorts from and about the Indian subcontinent to be held from May 5 to 10.
