New Delhi: The biennial election to the 24 assembly council seats in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh will be held on April 26, sources in the Election Commission said. The tenure of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi is also going to end in the first week of May.

The by-election for assembly council seat vacated by Rashid Masood will also be held on the same day. The process of filing nomination papers will begin on April 9.

11 and 13 council seats are going to be vacant respectively in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The EC on Monday announced that the election would be held in both the states. The EC will issue the notification on April 9 for the assembly council polls. The last date of filing nomination is April, 16, while the candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by April 19. The election would be held on April, 26.

Besides, Nitish and Modi, the tenure of Uday Narayan Rai, Chandan Bagchi, Tarakant Jha, Narendra Singh, Upendra Prasad, Baleshwar Singh Bharti, Bhim Singh, Ramashraya Prasad Singh and Sanjay Singh is going to end in the first week of May.

As far as UP is concerned, the tenure of Ashok Dhawan, Kanshi Nath, Waza Halim, Pradeep Kumar, Dayaram, Naresh Chandra Uttam, Babu Singh, Ramapati Ram, Rakesh Singh Rana, Ram Naresh Rawat, Ram Sharan Das, Sunil Kumar and Harpal Saini is also going to end in the same month.
