New Delhi: Sonia and Rahul Gandhi may be cherishing dreams of success in upcoming Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, but the infighting among the party leaders in the state is all set to derail ‘Mission UP’ of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.

The fissures in the party cadre are palpable from the way Congress leaders in the state are trying to manage a party ticket for their supporters.

UP Congress Chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi walked out of the screening committee meeting on Tuesday, as her list of recommended candidates was being ignored by the committee members.

An ongoing cold war between members of screening committee and some other senior leaders came to fore front as the leaders were engaged into heated discussion during the meeting, after which Joshi walked out.

According to the sources, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader in Uttar Pradesh, Pramod Tiwari and the chairman of the screening committee Mohan Prakash are not in favour of giving party ticket to many candidates recommended by Joshi.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Shriprakash Jaiswal has apprised Rahul Gandhi of the prevailing state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee.
