Rae Bareli: Following the orders of the Patna High Court, which had directed for seizure of assets of IAS officer SS Verma, the state administration with the help of Bihar state government officials have sealed two residential houses of Verma in Rae Bareli.

February 5 was set as the deadline to seal his residential houses in Rae Bareli. But as the officials from Bihar were not able to reach the state on time, the sealing was delayed for two more days.

Following the High Court’s order, a school has already been opened at his residence in Patna.

Both the flats which have been sealed are registered under the name of Usha Verma, wife of SS Verma. According to Usha, the flats were gifted by her elder sister in 2006.

Verma, who was serving as Secretary in the Minor Irrigation Department, has been accused of acquiring illegal assets to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore.

As per the Special Courts Act, Verma will face action under the Indian Penal Code and his assets will be seized as per the confiscation of the property law, which is only implemented in Bihar.
