But, in the case of Kunwar Bai from Chhattisgarh, it is not only different but inspiring as well. At 105, Kunwar Bai has set an example for the entire nation to follow. She sold off her goats to build toilets at her home and now has been chosen as the mascot of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The zeal for leading a clean and hygienic life gave her the determination to stop the practice of open defecation. She persuaded her family and sold off 10 of her goats to build toilets in the house.

For this act, she has been felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. Later, she was also selected as the mascot for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Modi, during his visit to Chhattisgarh to launch the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban (rural-urban) Mission, had compliment Kunwar Bai, touched her feet and sought her blessings.

On September 17, the Prime Minister will be felicitating Kunwar Bai at the Swachhta Diwas function to be held in New Delhi.

Kunwar Bai lives with her family in Dhamtari's Kotabharri village. She has been relentlessly spreading awareness about using toilets and hygiene.
