Meerut: In a major breakthrough, ATS and district police nabbed an ISI agent along with counterfeit currency notes on Sunday.

A resident of Nepal, the ISI agent was caught in a joint operation at PVS mall of Meerut. Police also recovered Rs 20, 000 and two fake currency notes of 100 dollars each from his possession.

DIG Prem Prakash said, “After a tip-off, the joint team reached PVS mall and detained a person for interrogation on Sunday morning. A three sim card mobile phone was seized from him, which had two sims of Nepal and one from India.”

The agent has been identified as Manjur Miya Ansari who is a resident of Parsa district of Nepal.

During interrogation, Manjur revealed that he was working for ISI officer Shafi, ISI agent Aslam and Sajid and used to supply fake currency notes, said Prakash.

He used to supply the counterfeit currency notes to someone in Gorakhpur.
