In the crowded markets the quick response teams (QRT) and emergency response teams (ERTs) were sent while police in plain clothes was deployed at the areas including Jaipur, Alwar, Ajmer, Udaipur and Jodhpur railway stations.

Soldiers keeping tight vigil on border, says CRPF chief

Srinagar: Indian soldiers guarding the western border with Pakistan are keeping tight vigil despite ceasefire violations and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans also helping the BSF and Army to foil any infiltration bid from across the border.

CRPF chief KS Bhandari in Kashmir said that soldiers were vigilantly guarding Indo-Pak international border amid ceasefire violations by Pakistani rangers.

Bhandari on Thursday (August 28) assured that the country must have full faith in the armed forces as the soldiers were doing their job with utmost sincerity.
On being asked about recent incidents of gun snatching from the officers of CRPF, Bhandari said such incidents may have occurred but still his soldiers were maintaining 24 hours strict vigil.

The IG said there are apprehensions of surge in militant attacks ahead of polls. “But all forces are alert. All precautions are being taken. No need to alarm,” he said.

He said before winters, militants try to infiltrate in large numbers into this side. “It is usual trend. May be there is increase this year. All forces are alert,” he said, adding we are taking precautions.

“The CRPF has been facing challenges. We will try to ensure peaceful polls in Jammu and Kashmir,” the IG said.

He added the situation is better in the state as compared to previous years. “If you look at data, the situation is better. We will try to normalize and make situation even better,” he said.
