Haridwar: Adding a feather to his cap, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev is preparing to buy 125 hectares of land from 10 villages in Haridwar and Roorkee for his much speculated dream project of gramudhyog (village industry).

When Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust sought the permission of the government for the purpose, the state government asked Haridwar district administration to submit an investigatory report into the proposal within a week.

As directed by the government, the district administration started searching the records and discovered the dream project of Baba Ramdev.

For the record, one has to acquire the permission of the government for purchasing more than 12.5 hectares of land under Section 153 of the Zamindari Abolition Act.

The administration is also looking into whether this land is under the gram samaj and checking undertakings of the land owners in agreement with the land sale.

Since investigation into yoga guru’s Yog Gram in Aurangabad had revealed gram samaj land being acquired for the purpose, therefore, the accountants have been directed to be careful this time.

In this regard, DS Pandiyan, District Magistrate, Haridwar said, “All the land documents are being verified as instructed by the state government regarding massive land purchasing by Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust. The trust has sought permission for purchase of land in Haridwar and Roorkee. The report will soon be forwarded to the state government.”
