New Delhi: On the basis of statements given by the 14-year-old girl who brought baby Falak to AIIMS on January 18 and claimed to be her mother, a new twist has emerged in the story.

Taking into account the statement given by the girl, the Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested three people. One of the arrested includes the teenager's father.

In her statement to police she had alleged all three of them of sexual harassment and pushing her into flesh trade.

The three arrested were Jeetendra Gupta (teenager’s father), Sandeep Pandey and his wife Puja.

"We have arrested the father who is used to beat her and didn't even feed her regularly. She was upset with the atmosphere at home and that's why she fled. She was abused both physically and sexually,” Additional Commissioner of Police (South-East) Ajay Chaudhry said.

Even as more arrests are awaited in the case, the police are trying to ascertain whether the accused are linked with Falak in any way.

"We do not yet know who are the real parents of Falak. Will produce the three accused in the court tomorrow," said Chaudhry.

Two-year-old Falak was admitted to AIIMS with severe injuries and is battling for life after the teenaged girl, who was looking after her, got her admitted to the hospital.
