Chandigarh: While strongly protesting against the government’s move to impose property as well as house tax in the state, the opposition has demanded to reduce VAT on petrol in Punjab.

In this connection, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Chief Parkash Singh Badal, who was also the former Chief Minister of Punjab, said that the state government has chosen to dash the hopes of people by imposing property and fire tax in the state rather than decreasing VAT on petrol. Not only this, his government levied taxes on empty plots as well small households in the state.

The step taken by the government has exposed the anti-public face of the congress.

Kuldeep Bishnoi, chief of Haryana Jan hit Congress and and one of the party leaders, Krishna Pal Gurjar, chose the occasion to hit the Bhupinder Singh Hooda led government, when both of them said that the Hooda government has no moral rights to stay in power since it had taken anti-people stand.

They further said that the state government should decrease the VAT tax on petrol.

Anil Vij, the BJP legislature leader in Punjab and others said that the state government has chosen to create problems for the public by imposing house tax which is really unreasonable.

They further said that the state government has failed to learn lessons from the recent nationwide bandh call given by the NDA and its allies. The state government has rather chosen to impose an extra burden of taxes on the public.
