Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tueasday met noted historians and Sikh scholars from the state to discuss the concept and design of the memorial for martyrs of the freedom struggle at Kartarpur.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister discussed the conceptual design and other modalities related to the planning and construction of memorial on Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway at Kartarpur.

The Chief Minister asked the Director Cultural Affairs to invite a panel of world renowned architects and consultants for designing the memorial.

The state-of-the-art memorial will showcase the rich legacy of numerous freedom fighters, patriots and martyrs of Punjab, who made significant contribution in the Indian freedom struggle.

The state government has allotted 20 acres of land for the setting up of the memorial.
