Haridwar: Heading further into the investigation of Ramdev’s aide Balakrishna’s fake passport case, the CBI is gearing up to interrogate an Uttrakhand IAS officer who had allegedly recommended for Balakrishna’s fake passport.

The IAS officer, who is now placed in the Kumaon Mandal, has been accused of helping Balakrishna to get the passport by giving his undertaking. The CBI, which has sought the cancellation of Balakrishna’s passport, would now also investigate how Balakrishna was issued the passport even after negative LIU report.

According to sources, the CBI would investigate two aspects of the issue. Firstly, whether the correct LIU report had reached the passport office or the report was tampered before it reached the concerned office. Secondly, the IAS officer gave the undertaking before the LIU report or after the report.

However, in both the cases, the IAS officer will have to undergo the interrogation.
