Ranchi: Jharkhand PCC chief and MP Pradeep Kumar Balmachu on Tuesday demanded resignation of state Agriculture Minister Satyanand Jha in the wake of a 41-year-old woman again alleging that she is his 'wife', a year after she raised the matter and retracted later.

"The Congress has taken the issue very seriously, and demands immediate resignation of the minister a Congress delegation will soon meet Governor Syed Ahmed and apprise him of its serious nature," a PCC release quoting Balmachu said.

"Soni Devi's demand for a DNA test (of her child) and the minister denying DNA test raises a doubt over the matter," it said.

Devi, a para-teacher (contractual teacher), had on August 18 alleged before the media in Dumka that she had been separated from her former husband in 1994 and 'married' Jha a few years later and has a four-year-old son from the 'second marriage'.

She had in September last year also raised the issue before quickly retracting after the minister denied the allegations then.
