New Delhi: An advertisement published by the Bangalore University (BU) in leading newspapers in the city on Tuesday -- inviting applications for the post of principal of the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE), governed by All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) norms, has kicked up a storm. The issue erupted over the method of appointment.

According to sources in UVCE, there is no principal's post there and that the incumbent KR Venugopal, was appointed as in-charge principal.

This advertisement is said to be the fourth such advertisement by BU for the same post.

A group of professors from the college are planning to approach the court seeking a stay on such ads.

The post of UVCE principal was approved in 2006 by the Chancellor (the Governor).
