DG Rangers Sindh had ordered removal of all barriers from city streets last week. The 72-hour deadline given by the Rangers ended on Tuesday.

The Rangers, which is carrying out a widescale operation clean up in Karachi, removed the barricades as part of its operation.

The paramilitary said the street barriers were hindering security operations and causing inconvenience to people.

Musharraf has been residing in his daughter's home near the upmarket Zamzama area of Clifton since May last year.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had on Tuesday disapproved the Rangers' operation in the city and said he would raise the matter with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.     

Nawaz is due to arrive in Karachi on Wednesday to chair and high level meeting to review the law and order situation in the city.
