New Delhi: The spirited Indian basketball team kicked off the 22nd International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Asia Under-18 Championship qualifiers on a winning note, thrashing Nepal by a huge difference of 120-41 at Tyagraj Indore stadium here on Friday.

For India, Palprit Singh Brar bagged 22 points, while Khushmit Singh clinched 16 points and helped India to register a scintillating victory.

On the other hand, beleaguered Nepal’s Ayush Singh scored 20 points, whereas struggling Siddharth could score only eight points against India.

In the other match of the championship, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 75-56.

The 22nd FIBA Asia U-18 Team Basketball qualifiers will be played till February 26.

Along with the host India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal are also participating in the mega event.

The qualifying team will get a chance to play in FIBA Under-18 Championship, to be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from August 17 to 26.
