Berlin: Peruvian veteran striker Claudio Pizzaro has joined German record champions Bayern Munich on a one year contract, the club announced.

After five years of absence, Pizzaro returns to the Bavarians where he played from 2001 until 2007 to score 71 goals in 174 matches.

"We are very happy that we were able to sign with Claudio Pizzaro an international player who is dangerous in front of the goal," Bayern sports director Christian Nerlinger said.

The 33-year-old striker left league rivals Werder Bremen where he played four years to bag 60 goals in 103 matches.

Moreover, Pizzaro is the most successful foreign player in Bundesliga history with 160 goals in 333 matches.
