Beat marshalls in all police stations of Thane have been given the list and made in-charge of handling cases related to senior citizens under their respective police stations limits, Narayana said on Tuesday.
Among other facilities provided to senior citizens, he said local police has contacted banks, both nationalised and private, to make separate queue arrangement for senior citizens.
On increasing incidents of chain snatching in the district, he said that some of the cases have been solved.
"Chain snatching cases are on the rise because there are no proper footpaths to walk, hence we have asked the civic bodies (TMC and Kalyan- Dombivali Municipal Corporation) to make footpaths, which will provide proper space for citizens to walk," he said.
Speaking on ensuring better workplace facilities to women police personnel, Narayana said Maharashtra DGP has directed all districts to ensure better facilities, following recent directives issued to all states by the Home Ministry, which mainly includes setting up of secure toilets and rest rooms for women personnel in police stations.
