Gwalior: A bench of Gwalior High Court on Thursday rejected the petition of Lawyers Union requesting for a CBI probe into the Belagaon murder case, saying that there was no need of the country’s top investigating agency to look into the matter.

After all the accused in the murder case were released, the Lawyers Union had filed a petition in the Gwalior High Court for the CBI probe into the matter.

The Court decision has come as a major respite to former minister Anoop Mishra, who is serving a political exile owing to his alleged involvement in the case.

The HC bench observed that when the complainant or others had no problem in the matter, it failed to understand the logic behind the Lawyers Union move to raise the demand for CBI probe.

Last year, a person identified as Bhikam was murdered in Belagaun.

Counsel representing the Lawyers Union, CP Singh argued that as the state police have failed to investigate the case properly, therefore the HC should order for a CBI investigation. Singh claimed the Lawyers Union is planning to challenge the HC order in the Supreme Court.
