Replying during question hour, Roy said that such markets would also help the small and marginal farmers.

Roy said that the government has formed a new concept 'my crop, my vehicle' which would enable the farmers to carry their produce to the markets to sell them and in the process, the role of the middlemen would be eliminated.
The farmers would also be able to keep the unsold produce in the cold storages which would come up near the markets.
All the 48 markets would be operational by this year, Roy said.

The markets would also prevent the farmers from distress sale, he said.
