Barabanki: Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma, who was booed by voters in his constituency Gonda on Wednesday, was again at the receiving end as a group of people shouted slogans against him at an election meeting in his home district Barabanki on Thursday.

A group people in the audience raised slogans against Verma at an election meeting in Fatehpur area here this evening following which one person was also arrested.

Verma was present on the dais along with Congress MP, Azharuddin when the protesters, said to be supporters of Adarsh Patel, a prospective Congress candidate from Kursi who later shifted to JD (U) on denial of ticket, raised slogans against Verma asking him to go back.

The protesters were chased away by Beni's supporters though one of them identified as Daljit was arrested.

On Wednesday in Gonda, Verma's parliamentary constituency, the Minister was jeered by people at a rally in front of party president Sonia Gandhi and was forced to cut short his speech.

A similar scene was witnessed in Balrampur district in November last year before Rahul Gandhi.
