"Our prime minister will be Rahul Gandhi, no other leader but Rahul Gandhi," he told reporters outside Parliament when his attention was drawn to media reports about Nandan Nilekani being made the party's PM candidate.
On Wednesday, the Congress had also rejected all talks of Nilekani being made the party's PM candidate as ‘hypothetical’.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi's remarks on the party's prime ministerial candidate had generated speculation on Sunday on whether Rahul would be named for the top job.
In September, reports had claimed that Nilekani would join the Congress party and contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore South in Karnataka, his home state.
