Los Angeles: R&B diva Beyonce Knowles' and Jay-Z's daughter Blue Ivy Carter has been named honorary citizen of Croatia's island of Hvar.

The officials in the region granted the status to the baby after learning that Beyonce and her husband named their newborn after a tree wrapped in blue ivy color somewhere on the island, reported a magazine.

"The story of the origin of the name of your daughter has brought enormous media attention and therefore tourist promotion to the town and island of Hvar. Because of this, I
have decided to confer on your daughter the status of honourary citizen of the town of Hvar," said Major Pjerino Bebic.

Blue Ivy was born in January 2012, but Beyonce decided her name months before while on vacation in Croatia with her husband.
