Jaipur: Even as the controversy surrounding the mysterious disappearance of Bhanwari Devi which has created ripples in the political corridor refuses to die down, the CBI on Thursday will have to submit its status report with the Rajasthan High Court.

The CBI which has failed to attain any concrete lead in the case will also have to reply that whether the missing nurse is dead or alive.

Two accused Shahabuddin and Sohanlal in the case of using a fake SIM card are already in the police remand. The CBI is still interrogating them in connection to Bhanwari devi case.

CBI on Thursday would submit its habeas corpus writ in the Bhanwari case before the High Court.

Shahabuddin, who had surrendered in court last week, was taken into custody by the CBI for questioning. Two other accused- Sohanlal and Baldev - have also been arrested. Bishnoi, another suspect, is on the run and is likely to surrender within a week.

Bhanwari Devi (36), who was posted as an auxiliary nurse and midwife at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village, around 120 km from Jodhpur, has been missing since September 1.
