Jaipur: The woes of the Rajasthan government in the Bhanwari Devi case refuse to die down. Sacked Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna got support from Jat community who protested against his dismissal in connection with the mysterious disappearance of Bhanwari Devi.

Several pradhans, sarpanchs and block chiefs associated with the ruling Congress tendered their resignations to register their protest.

The community has even threatened the Congress high command and the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to face dire consequences in the next elections by losing the Jat vote bank.

Notably, Parasram Maderna, an eminent Jat leader and father of Mahipal Maderna, is associated with the Congress party for the past 50 years. On the second day after the minister’s arrest, his supporters staged protest in Bikaner, Jodhpur and Sikar.

The pradhan of Baori panchayat along with 18 sarpanchs, 11 panchayat samiti members and four zila parishad members have already rendered their resignations to Union Minister Mukul Wasnik, Congress leader Ahmed Patel and Rajasthan PCC chief Chandra Bhan.

Meanwhile, the High Court in its observation has said that even after the CBI is probing into the case, the state government cannot shy away from its responsibility.

A bench of Justices comprising Govind Mathur and NK Jain while hearing the petition filed by Bhanwari’s husband Amarchand said the state government in every hearing will submit progress report of the case.
