Jaipur: The CBI probe in abduction and murder of auxiliary nurse Bhanwari Devi suffered a jolt on Tuesday when one of the key conspirators Sahiram Bishnoi filed a petition in the court saying he was pressurized for the deposition, while another witness Omprakash also turned hostile in the court.

During the hearing, Sahiram’s lawyer requested the Magistrate to take cognizance of the plea and not to read his statements recorded during the police custody.

Interestingly, the sleuths have been considering Sahiram Bishnoi as the interconnecting link between the abductors and the gang that committed Bhanwari’s murder. If the sources are to be believed, Sahiram was monitoring the overall activity. Therefore, when Sahiram surrendered, the CBI recorded his deposition under CRPC section 164, so that his statement cannot be changed.

Meanwhile, the judicial custody of the Congress MLA Malkhan Singh Bishnoi along with 11 others, held for role in the abduction and murder of Bhanwari Devi, was extended till February 28.

The CBI probing into the case arrested Malkhan Singh, former Deputy District Board Chairman Sahiram Bishnoi, Bhanwari’s husband Amarchand, gangster Bishnaram Bishnoi, Omprakash, Kailash Jakad, Ashok Bishnoi, Pukhraj, Dinesh and Indira Bishnoi’s associate Reshmaram Bishnoi. Owing to the charges on them, the accused were sent to jail on judicial remand till February 14.

On Tuesday afternoon, the accused were produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in the CBI court.

It needs to be mentioned that former state cabinet minister Mahipal Maderna and Malkhan Singh’s brother Parasram are in jail and were produced before the court through video conferencing.
