Jaipur: The Bishnoi community on Thursday once again expressed displeasure with the CBI, probing the Banwari Devi case for summoning arrested Congress MLA Malkhan Singh Bishnoi’s family members and his other relatives.

The Bishnoi community threatened to protest against CBI at its headquarters for its move in the case. They have also faxed letters to the President and the Prime Minister expressing their anguish. The announcement was made after a meeting organized in Jodhpur.

Those who were summoned by the CBI included - Choga Ram Bishnoi (Tilwasni sarpanch), Babu Lal Bishnoi (brother of Sohan Lal Bishnoi), Mahendra Bishnoi (son of Malkhan Singh Bishnoi), Gop Singh Barna (sarpanch and friend of Parasram Bishnoi, pradhan of Bilara Kusum Bishnoi and Mangi Lal (a relative of Malkhan).

Earlier on January 31, the CBI had questioned 80-year-old Amri Devi, mother of absconding Indira Bishnoi, an accused in Bhanwari Devi murder case, even as the judicial custody of her brother Malkhan Singh Bishnoi and others were extended till February 14.

According to family members, Amri Devi’s condition is serious and she was admitted in emergency ward at Jodhpur’s MGH hospital on Thursday around 4 pm. Malkhan’s father late Ram Singh Bishnoi was a former Minister and a renowned leader in the region.

However, the CBI in a press note on Thursday claimed that Amri Devi was not called for questioning at the circuit house. In fact she came on her own to discuss her nephew Babu Lal Bishnoi’s September 2 statement before the CBI.

‘On the same day Amri Devi had called me and said that Soahn lal had killed Bhanwari Devi,” the CBI quoted Babu Lal’s statement.

The CBI also asserted that on February 1 Amri Devi again visited the CBI premises on her own.

According to sources, the CBI on Thursday recovered notes worth Rs One lakh which was exchanged for kidnapping her. Sources also added that the recovery was made following Sohan Lal Bishnoi’s son Pukhraj Bishnoi statements.

The CBI on Thursday continued cross-checking and verifying the statements recorded besides interrogating those in custody and stepping up its search for Indra Bishnoi.

According to sources, sacked Rajasthan Minister Mahipal Maderna and Malkhan Singh were being blackmailed by Bhanwari who was allegedly having relations with them. Sources added that Bhanwari demanded Rs 50 lakh from Maderna with whom she was shown in a compromising position in a CD.

While Maderna was arrested on December 3, Malkhan was nabbed by the police on December 19 for their alleged involvement in the case.
