New Delhi: The CBI is gearing up to file a new FIR in Bhanwari Devi case. The Union Ministry of Personnel issued a notification to this effect on Monday after the Rajasthan government made a request last month for handing over the case to the Central agency.

A senior CBI official said, “We have received the copy of the notification and a fresh FIR will be registered anytime from now.”

Bhanwari (36), who was posted as an auxiliary nurse midwife at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village, has been missing since September 1 and the state Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna has been allegedly accused in the case.

Taking the stance of the state and the Central government into account, the CBI decided to initiate the probe in this case last week.

Working on the case, it has started taking documents and files into its possession. The Crime Branch officers also went to Jodhpur for investigations.

Bhanwari had hit the headlines sometime ago when a CD surfaced, showing her in a compromising position with Maderna and an MLA.
