Jaipur: Jodhpur court on Monday rejected the bail plea of Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, a Congress MLA and one of the accused in Bhanwari Devi kidnapping and murder case.

Notably, after being summoned by the state assembly for attending the budget session, both Malkhan Singh and Mahipal Maderna filed a petition in Jodhpur Magistrate court seeking bail for 40-60 days.

The CBI also opposed their bail pleas.

Malkhan Singh challenged the court’s order in DJ court which on Saturday forwarded his plea to ADJ court.

Hearing the plea, ADJ court reserved its order for February 27.

Meanwhile, the CBI on Monday complained High Court against the former minister Mahipal Singh Maderna and Malkhan Singh accusing them of affecting the probe by threatening witnesses and other accused pertaining to the case.

The CBI also informed the court, “Many witnesses are being pressurised to change their statements while some of them have gone missing due to threat.”

The CBI also expressed apprehensions about safety of their officers.

Responding to the written complaint of the CBI, the High Court directed the state government to take stern action on the CBI’s complaint till March 2 and asked it to submit report in the court on March 3.
