Rajasthan: Kailash Jhakhar, prime accused in the Bhanwari Devi murder case, has escaped from Jodhpur sessions court on Thursday forcing the authorities into a tizzy.

Kailash was brought in by the police in connection with another case hearing in which he is facing criminal charges. He was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in January this year and has been lodged in the Jodhpur Jail since.

36-year-old Bhanwari, an housewife and a nurse, went missing in September last year and the remains of her body were discovered by the CBI four months later.

Former Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna and ex-MLA Malkhan Singh had allegedly conspired to get rid of Bhanwari after she began blackmailing them, the CBI, in its chargesheet, has said.

The duo hired two men, Sohanlal and Shahabuddin, to kidnap Bhanwari from a bus and kill her.

The CBI claimed that Kailash, who is a member of the Bishna Ram gang, was entrusted to get rid of her. Corpse.

The CBI also claimed in the chargesheet that Bhanwari was blackmailing Maderna and Malkhan on the basis of a CD showing both in a compromising position with her.

The agency had on February 29 filed a supplementary chargesheet in the case, naming Maderna as the mastermind behind the nurse's disappearance and subsequent murder.

The chargesheet contained accounts of 300 witnesses and 313 documents in evidence.

 Bhanwari's husband Amarchand has also been booked for criminal conspiracy. Indra Bishnoi is still on the run.

Most of the accused were booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections for murder, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy and destruction of of evidence.
