New Delhi: Demanding justice for 23-year-old girl who was gang-raped in a moving bus on December 16 night in the national capital, the protesters have called for a Bharat Bandh on January 3.

Protesters have said that political leaders will not be allowed to take part in the Bharat Bandh if they came with flags or placards of their party.

The victim, a physiotherapy student, was gang-raped and brutally assaulted by six men in a moving bus in south Delhi on December 16 night. She died on Saturday morning at Mt Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. The body of the 23-year-old girl was cremated on Sunday morning.

Earlier the Congress has decided to propose a tougher law to check crimes against women which could include a provision like chemical castration of perpetrators of rape in rare cases. Some of the provisions of this tougher law include imprisonment up to 30 years for rape convicts and setting up of fast track-courts to decide the cases within 3 months. The final draft of the Congress' bill will be submitted to the Justice JS Verma-led Committee, set up by the Centre in the wake of December 16 incident.

The BJP has also suggested maximum punishment to the accused in rape cases, either death penalty or chemical castration. "There should be maximum punishment to the rapists, death penalty or emasculation (chemical castration of the rapist)," senior BJP leader Venkiah Naidu said.

Meanwhile, two youth are still continuing their fast at Jantar Mantar, Rajesh Gangwar and Babu Singh are holding fast for the past ten and five days respectively. They have vowed to continue their hunger strike till the culprits of gang rape get death sentence and a strong law is framed to deal with crime against women.

Several exams postponed

According to Visvesvaraya Technological University, BE III and VII semester exams scheduled from January 3 to January 7 have been postponed in view of the Bharat Bandh.

Besides, the Constitution of India and Professional Ethics exams have been postponed and are likely to be held on January 21. The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) has also postponed two exams scheduled for January 3.

The Commerce exam (Kannada shorthand) has been postponed to Friday and the second year D.ed supplementary exam has been postponed and rescheduled for January 11.

How many of you will hang and burnt alive? Do you think Burning Alive and hanging in public will solve the problem. change the sick mentality. Fear can only suppress not change the mentality. Indian need to change the mentality of all. I want that all culprits must be given Punishment of rigorous community service. Asking them to serve in hospitals, in mental hospital and also taking care of men-women who are victims, more rigorous options if available. Apart from this I also think that we all Indian need to do compulsory rigor Community service in our life. all Indian need to know that society is based not only in Patriarchy. We all should know how to respect others help others in need. Just like 10th 12th and bachelor education course or like compulsory army training we all need compulsory Community service... more courses on moral education, trauma centre, psychologist and mental therapy things should be given priority.... and welcoming.....We should teach how to love people how to care and support each other in need instead of talking about religion, caste, class, we should talk about humanity....dignity...respect of own and others........then only we will be able to change mentality of people from such brutality and disrespects......we need strict law but we all should also teach how to respect these law.... I want amendment in law and make such provisions for all..

I want justice for all victims of rape, murder not only for Delhi victim but also for Rape victims of Orissa Kandhamal, for Mumbai Khairlanji, Gujarat Godhara, Tribals and Dalit Victims of UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Kerela and Tamilnadu also...... Why Media and mass or people are not outrageous on these incidents. Are they were not girls or daughter or sister or mother? I don't understand why your heart is not crying for them? Why you don't feel like bothering for them? why? Do you think their cases were not brutal heinous and horrific? Don't you all think they also deserve Justice and your anger, your voice, your support? Demand Justice for all not only for one....... Justice for all victims. JUSTICE FOR ALL

the rapists should be hanged in the public so that the people will be aware of this....... our law must become strict. They should be beaten by public with rods , stones and then hanged in crowded area. their hanging must be telecasted in all medias so that each citizen can watch it. the next day can be done as bharat bandh so that every one can celebrate the joy of dead rapists.

I support Bharat bandh . if we say India is Democratic country . Government has to obey and follow people's opinion it has to give Judgment not from the Books written decades . They have to give judgement so that this kind of situation must not repeat in future. What ever they get punishment it has to be in eyes of people or public . And they have to be punished severely . T he Government should not care though they are going against Human rights. The government has to give judgment on the spot .
