As per the fresh statistics released by Nigerian telecom regulator NCC, Airtel at the end of February took leader over Globacom with 21 percent market share with 26,194,336 mobile subscribers.
     
Nigeria mobile market is dominated by MTN which had 45 percent share with 57,183,745 mobile subscribers.    
"This is a remarkable feat for Airtel, demonstrating that our investments, aimed at ensuring a superior experience for our customers in Nigeria, are bearing fruit," Airtel Africa CEO Christian de Faria said in a statement.
     
Since the launch in 2010, Airtel has invested over USD 1.7 billion dollars in its Nigerian telecom network.
