Bhopal: Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh on Friday charged the ruling BJP government did not follow ASI and court orders with regard to performing of Puja and Namaz at the disputed Bhojshala in Dhar district.

"As an head of the state, it was the duty of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to ensure conduct of both Puja and Namaz peacefully. Both ASI and the court had given directions in this regard, but the government failed in discharging its duties," Singh said in a statement.
"The way Chouhan observed silence on the issue of Bhojshala was a clear indication that he was waiting for the occurrence of some serious incident in the town," Singh said.

He said that the state government conducted Namaz in a symbolic manner (only 16 people offered prayers) and that too under tight security, violating the guidelines of the ASI.
The Congress leader also condemned the cane-charge and use of force by the police against the devotees and praised the people of Dhar for not getting "mislead by communal forces" and for maintaining peace.
