New Delhi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will soon get its new Vice-Chancellor as the Union Home Ministry has finalized the screening for a suitable candidate.

The name of the new VC would be announced as soon as President Pratibha Patil, the University Visitor, lands back in India from her foreign visit.

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad Director Dr. Lalji Singh has emerged as the front runner for the post. In addition to Lalji Singh, Professor Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Ravishankar Srivastava and Professor RNK Vamjai, VC of Mata Vaishno Devi University, Jammu are also in the fray.

The Search Committee has suggested a panel of names for the selection of the VC. HRD Minister Kapil Sibal assured BHU will soon get its new VC.
