Mandleshwar: A key Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan on Sunday demanded an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in awarding a contract to a private company for the construction of a power plant on the Narmada river during former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh's tenure.

Bhushan was here to take part in a rally organised by the Narmada Bachao Andolan to protest against the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest's decision to give permission to fill water up to a level of 154 metres in the dam for the Maheshwar Hydro-Electric project.

"A lot of corruption had taken place in awarding the contract to the private party," Bhushan alleged. He added that water should not be allowed to be filled until all the rehabilitation was done.

He said that those in power were making baseless allegations against Team Anna.
