Shimla: Coming down heavily on BJP government and Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan, former CM and Union minister Veerbhadra Singh on Tuesday said that state government ‘flouted’ norms to facilitate the Palampur land purchase by Prashant Bhushan.

“BJP government so far in its four years of rule illegally allowed nearly 1200 people to purchase lands in which Palampur land purchase is one of them which has breached section 118 of the Land Reforms and Tenancy Act.” Singh said addressing media.

Singh asked government that on what basis it had given hundreds of bighas of land to private varsities when its own universities are running in small premises.

“In the name of setting-up eco-tourism project, the government has given six contracts to a Nagpur based-firm on the prime forest land. It has allowed private builders to build luxurious houses on forest land.” Singh said.

Singh demanded a CBI probe into the multi-crore state pulse scam and contended that the scam incurred loss of Rs.150 crore to the state exchequer.

Accusing Prem Kumar Dhumal government of misleading people over cement rates, Singh claimed “the government is not taking cement supply from the company it had earlier signed contract with, but other company is supplying cement.”
