Islamabad: A contestant in India's top reality show, 'Bigg Boss' Begum Nawazish Ali aka Ali Saleem landed in a police lock-up in Islamabad for allegedly beating up his mother. The Pakistani famous cross-dressing TV host who has often courted controversy was locked up in Bhara Kahu police station in the federal capital after his mother Farzana Saleem filed a complaint on Thursday.

Farzana, who suffered a fractured nose and other injuries, said that her son, who was "drunk", beat her up after she refused to give him Rs 10 million, a police spokesman said.

Ali Saleem's medical examination was conducted at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and officials declared he was drunk. Police registered an FIR under the Prohibition
Act.

The TV talk show host flew into Islamabad from Karachi on Wednesday and went to meet his mother at her residence in Bani Gala. Farzana later phoned the police for help. However, she has refused to pursue the case further.

Police were scheduled to present Ali Saleem in court to seek his judicial remand, officials said. They said Ali Saleem was booked only under the Prohibition Act as he and his mother had reached a settlement after he apologised.
