New Delhi: The Bihar government is upset with Governor Devanand Konwar for not clearing 14 Bills as delay in his assent may cause the state financial losses as some of the pending bills are financial bills.

The state government has expressed shock over the delay. Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi, who holds the Finance portfolio, said, “It’s been more than two months both the houses of the Assembly passed these bills.

Approval to Bihar Municipality (Amendment) Bill 2011 and Bihar Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill 2011 is important because the state would get performance grant on the basis of the 13th Finance Commission recommendations.”

The delay may cause loss of Rs 209 crore in lieu of performance grant from the Centre. The state would also fail to realize profession tax worth Rs 100 crore,

The MPs of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have decided to raise the issue in the upcoming monsoon session of the Parliament.
