Patna: The by-election for Daraunda Assembly constituency in Bihar concluded peacefully registering 44 percent voting on Thursday. Nine candidates are in the fray for the assembly seat which was vacated following the death of JD(U) MLA Jagmato Devi.

Chief Electoral Officer Arvind Kumar Chaudhary said that there were no reports of untoward incidents during polls. He informed that CRPF personnel had been deployed at every election booth.

Chaudhary said that live recording was being done from 16 booths and 7 people have been arrested in for creating disturbance. Four vehicles were seized during the polls, the officer said.

Counting one false report of disruption, Chaudhary said that there were reports that the former MP Prabhu Nath Singh may cause disruption during polls which was found baseless after investigations.

Notably, counting of votes would be conducted on October 17.
