Patna: With the onset of Monsoon, fear of floods is also looming large over the state. A number of rivers are reported to be flowing above the danger mark. ‘The sorrow of Bihar’ Kosi has once again breached its embankment at Supaul inundating three hundred houses while waters of river Gandaka entered 20 houses of Gopalganj district. People of the state are living in fear as rivers like Bagmati, Baya and Kareh are also flowing above the danger mark. There are reports of road links being breached at several places.

People have been compelled to take shelter at higher places.

On Sunday night the supporting embankment of river Kosi breached near Gauri Patti village under Saraigarh block with the river registering an unprecedented increase in water level. Due to this, several villages of Saraigarh-Bhaptiahi were affected.3-4 feet high flood waters entered into more than three hundred houses compelling the people of the area to take shelter with their live-stock on the eastern embankment of the river.

Flood has put a brake on the smooth movement of vehicles with water overflowing NH-104 near Sitamarhi-Sheohar. Also road link between Sheohar-Motihari remained cut-off on Monday.
