Valmiki Nagar: With the aim to fillip the tourism sector and elevate the only tiger reserve of the state - Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve on an international level, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi has announced to initiate the required steps in this regard. According to Modi, best possible resources would be provided to the tiger reserve to attract the maximum number of tourists.

Addressing media persons in the Valmiki Nagar guest house Modi said, “The 12-rooms tourism lounge would be fully renovated in the next two months for which the government would spend over Rs 23 lakh so that the tourist visiting this place can have a pleasant stay. The tourists along with visiting the spiritual places can also avail the fun of seeing the forest animals.”

The Deputy CM informed that the Centre has allocated Rs 3. 59 crore for the tiger reserve and the first installment has already been received by the state government. Also, in a view to increase the number of animals, the grass land management would be developed as per the eco tourism.

Elaborating more he said, anti-poaching camps would be developed in five places. In this regard, the government has set up a committee headed by PK Sen for the development of eco tourism. Under the Border Area Development Program Rs 45 lakhs have also been sanctioned. As per the plan, a mini auditorium and illustrated museum would be constructed, he added.

In a view to lure the tourists, two museums huts in Goverderna and four in Valmiki Nagar would be designed. Each hut would cost Rs 4 lakh. Within two months eight sewage tanks would be constructed. An amount of Rs 13.70 lakh would be used for the construction of bridges and roads.

Modi said, with the development of the tourism sector in the state, people will also get more employment opportunities. The purchase of tourist vehicles would be encouraged under the project. In addition, a Tiger Foundation has also been set up in the reserve.
